Features and Care Instructions for Your Vessels

This guide is for you to enjoy the works you have chosen at Maholo for a long time and comfortably.

Each piece, created one by one by the artists, has its own unique character based on its materials and techniques. We hope you will cherish and nurture their rich expressions in your daily life.

Pottery & Porcelain

First Use and Sealing

・Please wash lightly with detergent before first use.
・For pottery, "sealing" by boiling in rice water or starch water before first use can prevent stains and dirt. Sealing is not necessary for porcelain or some pre-coated items.

To Prevent Stains and Dirt

・When serving oily foods or darkly colored liquids on unglazed or kohiki (powder-glazed) pieces, it is recommended to moisten them by dipping them in water or lukewarm water first, which helps prevent staining.
・Please enjoy the charm unique to handcrafted pieces as they age and transform with use.

Microwave, Dishwasher, Oven

・Porcelain and semi-porcelain are microwave-safe. Pottery can be microwaved for warming purposes, except for those with gold or silver decoration or special glazes.
・Avoid using the oven, dishwasher, or direct heat (excluding heat-resistant items). Please check the product details page for specific information.

Wood & Lacquer

・After use, wash as soon as possible, wipe off moisture with a cloth, and then air dry.
・Do not leave submerged in water for long periods, as this can cause stains and mold.
・For care of plain wood or solid wood pieces, "walnut oil" or "linseed oil" is recommended.
・Not suitable for microwave or dishwasher use. Also, avoid stacking with pottery as it may cause scratches.

Glass

・These are not heat-resistant glass, so please refrain from using them with hot liquids.
・Not suitable for microwave, dishwasher, or oven use.

Each item in our store is handmade, so even identical products may vary slightly in size, texture, and weight.
While we strive to convey the true appearance of our products in the photos, please note that the actual colors may differ slightly due to photographic conditions and monitor display settings.
We hope you will enjoy the individual differences inherent in handmade items and the unique textures created by each artist's ingenuity.
