Tanigawa Yume

Yume Tanigawa, a ceramic artist who has a studio in Kyoto, the city of a thousand years, pursues her unique aesthetic of form. Based on the concept of "usable forms that also make beautiful decorations," she creates pieces that exude a refined and serene presence, making you want to keep them close at hand.

The great appeal of Tanigawa's works lies in the contrast of "scenery" created by their opposing textures. The exterior of her vessels retains the rustic and robust unglazed, high-fired clay, while the interior is adorned with a glittering glass glaze that seems to capture crystals and light. The profound expressions revealed with each glance bring a beautiful and quiet light to any space.

With beautiful curves that carry a subtle tension and a delicate, thin rim designed for comfort the moment it touches the lips, her pieces can be used as drink cups, small bowls for food, or even vases for wildflowers. The dignified forms, which embrace the user's free interpretation, add serene scenery and rich open space to daily life and dining tables.
