These are works by Yuuki Abe, a ceramic artist who creates pottery in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture.
Ms. Abe values "the interesting shapes, textures, and patterns that the clay itself creates." She mainly produces the "Tetsue" series, which features patterns drawn with iron-containing pigments, and the "Hibie" series, which creates patterns from cracks in white slip.
Having previously worked in architecture, many of her pieces have a very modern design, and she is also particular about creating textures that evoke the natural qualities of pottery.
