These are works by Yuuki Abe, a ceramic artist who creates pottery in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture.
Ms. Abe values "the interesting shapes, textures, and patterns that clay itself creates." She mainly produces two series: "Tetsu-e," which features patterns drawn with iron-containing pigments, and "Hibi-e," which creates patterns from cracks in white slip.
Having previously worked in architecture, many of her pieces feature very modern designs, and she is particular about creating textures that evoke the natural feel unique to ceramics.
