These are works by Yuuki Abe, a ceramic artist who creates pottery in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture.
Ms. Abe values "the interesting shapes, textures, and patterns that the clay itself creates." She mainly produces the "Tetsu-e" series, where patterns are drawn with iron-containing pigments, and the "Hibi-e" series, where patterns are created by cracks in white slip.
Having previously worked in architecture, many of her pieces feature very modern designs, and she is particular about creating textures that evoke the natural feel unique to pottery.
