Yosuke Nagakusa Ryusaiji Small Plate

This is a work by Yohei Nagakusa, who creates pottery in Kasugai City, Aichi Prefecture.

Mr. Nagakusa primarily creates works with elegant forms and beautiful glazes using porcelain clay.

His works include "Tansaiji" (pale colored porcelain) with its faint, translucent quality, "Ryusaiji" (flowing colored porcelain) with its beautiful color transitions, and "Kosaiji" (shimmering colored porcelain) with its delicate sparkle.

"Tansaiji" is a series that evokes the beauty and ephemerality of a spring, where delicate colors accumulate at the bottom of a transparent, glassy surface.

"Ryusaiji" is arguably Yohei Nagakusa's signature technique, where vibrant and lustrous glaze gradations, unforgettable once seen, leap into view.

"Kosaiji" is his newest technique, which, while appearing matte overall, reveals fantastic works with fine, layered glitter-like shimmers when viewed up close.
