This is a piece by potter toriimiki.

toriimiki's ceramics are all meticulously hand-coiled, as she carefully feels the texture of the clay through her fingertips.

The organic forms are brought to life by gently leaving traces with shells and sand gathered from the beach on slightly coarse white clay, as if scooping out the "fluctuation" within herself.

The surface is covered with a white glaze that emits a mysterious light of no discernible color, like the flickering sunlight seen from the shade of a tree.

Tossed by the flames in the kiln, these accidental expressions are never the same even when fired identically.

The artist cherishes and accepts this as "the beauty of things not going as planned."

The gentle breath of the clay remaining after the glaze has slipped, and the soft weight that fits snugly in the hand like fruit. These pieces bring a sense of tranquil time to everyday life, like standing on a calm shore.
