Takeshi Yoshida, a potter who works in Mashiko, Haga County, Tochigi Prefecture, a town famous for its pottery.
Mr. Yoshida mainly creates two series: "Bronze," which has a texture like unearthed artifacts, and "Hakudeisai" (white mud glaze), which resembles the walls of ruins.
In recent years, he has also added series with very intricate and strong sculptural elements.
Many of his works clearly show a strong commitment to color and texture, and their unique, unearthed artifact-like appearance is distinctive.
Furthermore, many of his vessels are lightly made, making them perfect for everyday use.
