Breathing new life into decay.

Rentaro Arakawa's creations begin with "reclaimed wood" that he personally collects.

Insect damage, cracks, chips—these marks, generally considered flaws, are embraced by Arakawa as the wood's unique personality.
Through his self-taught journey in woodworking and lacquer, he arrived at a powerful, thick layer of lacquer that seems to seal in the wood's breath.
It transcends mere "coating," exuding the profound intensity of a sculpture where the lacquer material itself possesses substantial weight.

This exhibition features special pieces that reveal a more complex charm and expression than ever before.

They are sure to quietly bring the powerful memory of nature and the weight of the artist's craftsmanship to your daily dining table.
