These are works by Eiichi Fukuda of Sugary Ceramics, made in Namerikawa City, Toyama Prefecture.
Drawing inspiration from Annamese pottery techniques, Fukuda combines underglaze blue painting with a slip-trailing technique called "icchinn" to create unique landscapes on his vessels.
In addition to the lightness of classical patterns, many of this collection's pieces feature overglaze enamels, allowing the expressions of lines created by his brushwork to expand even more richly.
The lingering impression of calm blue, delicate colors, and somewhat fantastical motifs.
This new collection presents works with a quiet, clear presence, as if nestled in the winter air.
All pieces are hand-painted by Fukuda.
Please take your time to appreciate them, tracing the brushstrokes left on each vessel.
