Taeko Kajihara, who creates pottery in Saga City, Saga Prefecture, shapes her vessels using slab building and hand-building techniques, without the use of a potter's wheel.
The forms that emerge from this process have their own unique contours, yet they exude a certain softness.
The "funauchi" (powdering) technique, where slip is beaten onto the surface of the vessel, accentuates the texture of the clay itself, creating a quiet yet powerful expression.
She also creates works with subdued glazes, captivating with their simple yet profound beauty. Since they are microwave and dishwasher safe, they are perfect for everyday use.
