Mutsumi Ohashi, who has a studio in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, creates works that strongly bring out the nature of the soil.
The beauty of modern forms coexists with an untamed expression.
This coexistence is where Ohashi's charm lies.

Ohashi uses a wood-fired kiln, which she fires only a few times a year, and a kerosene kiln, which she uses daily, selectively.
She uses the ash produced in the wood-fired kiln as ash glaze and fires it in the kerosene kiln, creating her works by moving back and forth between processes.

This time, she is also attempting to refire works that were fired in the kerosene kiln in the wood-fired kiln.
Each work cycles through the elements of earth, fire, and ash, returning to the flames once more.

The powerfulness that evokes the energy of nature, and a quiet gaze that confronts materials and processes.
