Mutsumi Ohashi, who has a studio in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, creates works that strongly draw out the nature of clay.
The beauty of modern forms coexists with an unrefined expression.
This coexistence is where Ohashi's charm lies.

Ohashi uses both a wood-fired kiln, which is fired only a few times a year, and an oil-fired kiln, which is used daily.
He creates his works by moving between processes, such as using the ash produced in the wood-fired kiln as ash glaze and then firing it in the oil-fired kiln.

This time, he is also undertaking the challenge of re-firing works that were initially fired in the oil-fired kiln, in the wood-fired kiln.
Each piece, having gone through the elements of earth, fire, and ash, returns to the flames once again.

The power that makes one feel the energy of nature, and the quiet gaze that confronts the materials and processes.
We hope you can experience the current state of Mutsumi Ohashi's work.
