Mutsumi Ohashi, who has a studio in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, creates works that strongly bring out the characteristics of the clay.

The coexistence of these two elements is where Ohashi's charm lies.

Ohashi uses a wood-fired kiln, which she fires only a few times a year, and a kerosene kiln, which she uses daily.
She uses the ash from the wood-fired kiln as ash glaze and then fires it in the kerosene kiln, creating her works by moving back and forth between processes.

This time, she is also attempting to refire works that were fired in the kerosene kiln, in the wood-fired kiln.
Each work, having circulated through the elements of earth, fire, and ash, returns to the flames once again.

The power that evokes the energy of nature, and a quiet gaze that confronts the materials and processes.
