Ms. Obuchi, who creates pottery in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, uses a variety of colorful glazes to create beautiful, tonal works.
The color combinations change each time, and organic changes due to firing, such as how the glaze melts and flows, are also added.
This creates unique works, no two of which are alike.
There are numerous types of gradations achieved through her glazing techniques, and in recent years, she has also been producing plates painted with colorful glazes reminiscent of Impressionist paintings.
Additionally, one of the charms of Ms. Obuchi's ceramics is that they are very light and suitable for everyday use.
Their rich colors evoke light, and simply looking at them can uplift your spirits.
