These pieces are by Hiromi Suzuki, a potter working in Ogato, Mashiko-machi, Haga-gun, Tochigi Prefecture.
Ms. Suzuki focuses on creating simple pieces that are pleasant to the touch, easy to use, and complement the food served on them.
The most striking feature of her work is the beautiful, soft, and delicate colors.
The gentle gradations exhibit various expressions, and the impression changes completely depending on whether they are viewed in bright or dim light.
The names, such as "Sakura-iro" (cherry blossom color) and "Yoi-iro" (twilight color), also perfectly match the impression of the colors.
The pieces have a gentle atmosphere yet possess a strong, distinct charm without being ephemeral.
