Tashiro Noriaki Black and Grey Glazed Plate 22.5cm

This piece is by Toshifumi Tashiro, a ceramic artist working in Mashiko, a town famous for its pottery.

Tashiro's work is characterized by its sharp forms, dignified presence, and a calm, monochrome-centric color palette.
His creations include "haiyu" (ash glaze) and "kuro-haiyu" (black ash glaze) made with oak ash, metal-based "manganese" and "madara-yakugusuri" (mottled glaze), and his new "onita" (red iron oxide glaze).

Although each piece has a different finish, all his works reflect Tashiro's unique aesthetic.
